In the beginning, the story follows a girl who loses her phone. What at first seems like a small inconvenience quickly grows into something more profound. As the day unfolds, she notices her friends gathered, immersed in conversations about posts, messages, and group chats that she cannot access. Without her phone, she feels the growing weight of disconnection and exclusion, her separation from their “digital world” slowly becoming a separation from them.

As she searches for her friends, the school environment around her feels emptier and colder. The pacing slows, emphasising her isolation. By the time she returns to the classroom and finds no one there, she has given up hope of seeing them, deciding to go home. Yet at her lowest moment, her friends are waiting at the exit. Their presence shifts the tone completely, she realises that what she had lost was never really her phone, but the sense of connection and belonging that comes from human contact.

Although the phone functions as the object at the centre of her search, the comic uses it as a symbol. It highlights how misunderstandings and disconnection can be amplified by our reliance on devices, and how easy it is to mistake digital presence for genuine closeness. By the end, the phone is almost irrelevant, the rediscovered bond with her friends is what she truly needed, and the simple act of them showing up in person is what restores her sense of belonging.

This work aims to capture the feelings of isolation, miscommunication, and resilience that often accompany modern relationships dictated by technology. The “lost” reflects not only the physical absence of a device, but also the emotional distance it can create. The “found” is the rediscovery of something deeper: the reminder that human connection exists beyond screens.

Developing this comic under the 24-hour design challenge was both intense and rewarding. The time demanded quick decisions about pacing, layout, and visual storytelling, pushing me to strip the idea down to its essential concept. While challenging, it was funs seeing how far I was able to apply story, feeling, and communication in such a short amount of time.
